1.Isolating Predictors in Clinical Healthcare Data
Horizontal bar chart and heatmap · 2026
A Clinical Data Analyst needed to identify true predictors of heart disease by controlling for demographic confounders. Moving beyond basic correlations, the analyst used a dashboard featuring a Ranked feature discriminators horizontal bar chart. This chart ordered 13 clinical variables by absolute coefficient magnitude, revealing Major Vessels (ca) as the strongest predictor at 1.076, followed by Thalassemia (thal) at 0.619. Surprisingly, conventional markers like Resting Blood Pressure (0.384) ranked much lower, proving their predictive power drops when controlling for other factors. A supplementary heatmap visualized disease prevalence across age and sex, showing male disease rates escalating from 40.7% to 100.0% in the highest age bracket, providing defensible evidence for updating triage protocols.
What it shows:
Controlling for confounding variables exposes the actual predictive weight of clinical markers.
